Electrical panel upgrades in Levittown and Lower Bucks
Most Levittown houses were built with 60 amp service and a fuse box. That was enough for a stove, a fridge, and a radio. It is not enough for central air, an induction range, a hot tub, and a car in the driveway that needs charging.
| Service | 60A or 100A to 200A panel and meter change |
| Area | Levittown, Bristol, Fairless Hills, Morrisville and the rest of Lower Bucks |
| Permits | We pull the permit and meet the inspector |
| Power off | Typically most of one day |
| What moves the price | Meter socket condition, service entrance run, township permit fee |
How do I know my panel needs replacing?
Breakers that trip when nothing changed. A fuse box instead of breakers. Rust or scorch marks inside the door. Double tapped breakers with two wires under one screw. Lights that dim when the AC kicks on. Any of those is worth a look, and looking is free.
What actually happens on the day
Power comes off at the meter. The old panel comes out, the new one goes in, and every existing circuit gets landed on a properly sized breaker and labeled by hand on the directory card. PECO comes out to reconnect and the township inspector signs it off. You get a panel you can read.
Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels
If the label inside your panel door says Federal Pacific Stab-Lok or Zinsco, that is a known problem, not a sales pitch. Those breakers have a documented history of failing to trip on an overload. Insurance carriers ask about them. We replace them.

About panel upgrade
How long does a panel upgrade take?
A straight 100 to 200 amp change is usually a one day job. Power is off for most of that day. If the service entrance cable, meter socket, or grounding also needs work, plan for longer and we will tell you that before we start, not after.
Do I need a permit for a panel upgrade in Bucks County?
Yes. A service change requires a permit and an inspection in every Lower Bucks municipality we work in. We pull it, we schedule the inspection, and we meet the inspector. You do not chase paperwork.
Will 200 amps be enough for an EV charger and a heat pump?
For most Levittown and Fairless Hills houses, yes. We run the load calculation before quoting so the answer is based on your house rather than a guess.
